Pierre Henry / John Cage

July 14, 2008

I was digging at YouTube for some video music from some artists that i like, and then, suddenly i was catched up from one video from the pioneer of the Musique concrète genre. A music composer called Pierre Henry from France.

For those who don’t know…

Musique concrète: (French; literally, “concrete music”), is a style of avant-garde music that relies on recorded sounds, including natural environmental sounds and other non-inherently-musical noises to create music. (Wikipedia).

Pierre Henry – Psyché Rock

Now-a-days: It’s funny, but this music from Pierre “Psyché Rock” became the Futurama (Cartoon) theme.

For some how Pierre remind’s me a lot John Cage, another artist that i really have a passion with. I don’t gonna talk about Cage on this post, for now i just gonna post this other video that shows some Marcel Duchamp works with a John Cage music in the background. They both represent the anti-art movment called Dadaism (1916). The video is a sample of the movie Dreams That Money Can Buy , american experimental feature color film written, produced, and directed by surrealist artist and dadafilm-theorist Hans Richter.

So.. this was just an inspiration post, for those who appreciate Art and experimental music.

Enjoy !
